Phil and Rachel are a husband and wife team who established Rubicon in 2012.  In 2015 they achieved their ambition of working for themselves, when they both began full time work for Rubicon Project Consulting.

Rachel Gerrard - BEng CEng MICE

Rachel studied Civil and Structural Engineering at the University of Plymouth, with a specialism in Coastal Engineering.  At this time she also qualified as a HSE Pt3 commercial diver.  After graduating in 1996 Rachel joined a Water and Environmental Consultancy in Bristol, concentrating on modelling, mapping and the design of water management schemes and structures.  In 2000 Rachel joined the Environment Agency (EA) in Penrith as a Technical Specialist in Flood Risk.  During her time at the EA she designed flood management measures, oversaw the site installation of schemes and responded to many incidents, including the 2009 floods.  Rachel left the EA in 2015 to work full time for Rubicon, which allows her to concentrate on  helping individuals and organisations with the practical aspects of flood and water management.

Rachel became a Chartered Engineer and full member of the Institute of Civil Engineering in 2005.

Phil Gerrard - BSc PgDip MAPM

Phil initially started in Airframes Engineering in the RAF, before studying Ocean Science at the University of Plymouth, where he specialised in Pollution Chemistry.  After graduating in 1996 Phil joined a Water and Environmental Consultancy in Bristol, concentrating on Contaminated Land Investigation, on-site CQA of large civil structures, flood plain mapping and Contaminated Demolition.  Whilst in Bristol, Phil studied for and gained a Post Graduate Diploma in Environmental Rehabilitation.  Following a move to Cumbria in 2000, Phil joined the contracting arm of a large nuclear company where he trained and specialised in Project and Contract Management.  Since that time Phil has worked across the UK, Slovakia, Italy & Spain on large complex programmes of work and has personally managed projects upto £250M / Euro 300M.

Phil became a full member of the Association of Project Management in 2005.
